Presentations
This section could have been called Beyond Powerpoint - but that would be misleading.
The temptation arises because most of us don't have the time or skills to exploit the huge potential of Powerpoint, which has an enormous user base and good reputation. We are forced into a minimalist approach mainly based around text, with modest illustrations added in if we can think of something.
Like specialist multimedia programmes, presentations can bring together text, high-quality graphics, animation, audio and video without breaking the bank. We can help you exploit the medium more fully and 'leverage' the work put into preparing a presentation.
Three creative steps
• The first stage in making presentations more effective is to incorporate better graphic design, either as backgrounds or foreground elements. This often means breaking the content down into smaller units to allow space for visual effectiveness.
•
The second stage may well be to incorporate animated elements or video - probably reserved for key points in the presentation and spaced out to give a change of style from time to time.
• The third stage is to make a 'quantum leap' using multimedia software to produce a sophisticated and varied programme with each screen featuring tailor-made design.
A major investment of this sort is worthwhile, for example, as part of a major campaign or as part of a repeated-use training programme.
Presentations are usually given by a live presenter, but they can also run automatically, possibly with a soundtrack, to provide a feature at exhibitions.
